Thanks to its being made prominent by the French through their habitual drinking of red wine, resveratrol has become a highly studied chemical. Found in the skins of red and purple grapes, mulberries, cranberries, blueberries, and in peanuts, resveratrol has become one of the most exciting "discoveries" of 21st century health and medicine. Research has found this chemical to quite possibly: *Enhance mitochondrial function *Increase a person's metabolism and energy levels *Act as a powerful anti-oxidant What this means for you is: a longer lifespan and more youthful appearance and energy. It also means that you more easily fend off illness and disease--including the disease called "being overweight or obese". It is thought that moderate amounts of alcohol also have health benefits in and of themselves--some research has found that an average person who drinks moderately and regularly will live approximately five years longer than an average person who does not drink much. But, there are obvious problems with potential alcohol abuse, and when you consume alcohol your body may start burning acetate--which means that you could put on weight (although this is clearly not a problem for those on the high-fat, high-cholesterol, rich-dessert French Diet who drink two to three glasses of red wine daily). If you don't want to drink much alcohol, you should seek out resveratrol supplements. Harvard Medical School researchers have called resveratrol "the biggest medical discovery since antibiotics". TV programs from Fox News to the Discovery Channel have run programs and documentaries about it. Even the Mayo Clinic has said, "Recent research has indicated substance called resveratrol, which is found in the skin and seeds of grapes used to make wine, has promising heart-healthy benefits." Many people are turning to this chemical to lose weight. But remember, it's not a miracle drug--although it's close! In all seriousness, you will have to do more than just pop a pill or drink a few glasses of wine if you seriously want to lose weight and extend your life span. You will need to: *Get plenty of physical exercise. And you can forget the lazy man's guide to exercise that FDA fools started telling people in the 1990s--like walking or raking leaves. Those things can help you maintain your current weight, but they won't help you lose any. Medical "experts" started touting those things to try to get the lazy people off their couches and way from the TV. *Eat smart. The French have proven that this does not mean eat bland foods or starve yourself. But, in its way, theirs is a balanced diet--meat, cheese, red wine. (They even get dessert!). Have a balanced diet plan of you own. High protein and low carbohydrates really help if you want to lose weight. (Also, until you get down to where you want to be weight-wise, you should skip the dessert.) But just forget about fad diets--they're rubbish. *Persist, persist, persist. You can never give up until you reach your weight goal. There you have it. Resveratrol will help you work anti-aging and weight loss magic in your life. Start trying it. |
