I was at a health seminar yesterday, discussing detox programs &  the benefits of detoxing It seems that we use the word ‘detox’ so regularly that the actual meaning has become diluted and, to some extent, misconstrued. There seems to be some confusion around what detoxing is, how detoxing is done, and what the actual benefits of a detox are to us.

So – what exactly is a detox?

Detoxing is the act of cleansing our internal system. When we consider our body’s constituents, it essentially comes down to cells and organs. How your body functions has much to do with how effectively your organs and cells are working and coping.

Good nutrition enables your body to grow and function at optimum levels – it is the fuel that makes our bodies tick. Regular maintenance, use of quality fuel and engine additives go a long way to making a car function well – the same principle applies to the fuel we put into our bodies.

Our bodies are fuelled by food & liquid, absorbing quality ‘fuel’, and expelling waste and harmful toxins However, even the most diligent will to some degree absorb or develop toxins in their bodies.

So, Detox is the process of expelling the toxicity within our cell structures, preventing the acceleration of the oxidation process, which helps promote a healthy metabolism. This helps to ensure we’ve got the energy to live our lives to the full, and keep us healthy.

On account of the improved consumption of cellular nutrition, we will feel lighter and healthier, since waste will be expelled in the manner it should be, whilst nutrients will be absorbed more effectively. Our skin will keep its elasticity better (as the nutrients are actually feeding the skin) and help to assist in slowing down the onset of potentially degenerative diseases that include:

digestive illnesses Cancers eye conditions cardiovascular diseases

The Acai Berry, high in Antioxidants, (actually the highest ever recorded of any food), will contribute to any detoxification process.

Detoxing doesn’t have to be about purging ourselves. It’s about preventing the oxidation process occurring. And by eating a fruit with the highest levels of antioxidants in the world, we can give the detox process a kick-start.

In addition, the convenience of being able to take Acai supplements shouldn’t be underestimated – we still have our daily lives to live, and I for one am not a fan of tubes & enemas.
