Everyone knows that our health is a reflection of how we take care of our bodies. Taking care of our bodies can be anything from exercise to a well balanced diet. There are many things we can do in order to better our mental and physical health. A well balanced, health oriented diet is a great place to start. Many people who are currently in the process of a healthy diet experience more energy, higher concentration, and overall better health. So what can you do in order to improve your health? One step towards a healthier new you is portion control. Many of us are unaware of just how important portion control is to our diet. Overeating can lead to faster weight gain and intestinal problems. Portion control allows us to eat the food we love but in smaller amounts. I’m sure that many of us have heard that it is better to eat a little bit five times a day then it is to eat two huge plates during one meal. Furthermore, when we split our meals into four smaller daily portions, we are less likely to snack on junk food. When you consume one huge meal in the middle of the day, chances are you will get hungry in the evening and you will reach for some sort of a comfort food (junk food). But if you have a small portion of dinner left aside you will not be tempted to resort to anything unhealthy. So what are some of healthy foods to consider? Whole grain foods are an excellent healthy food alternative to the everyday white bread and noodles. Some other healthy foods include organic foods, low fat and fat free dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. Incorporating some of these foods into your diet will surely help you feel healthier and more energized. |
