Do you work for a business or corporation where you spend 8 to 10 hours a day sitting at a desk? Does it seem like your company has potlucks every week? The next time you are at your desk take some time and look at the person to the left of you and the right of you. What do you see? Is either person significantly over weight? Then the hardest test of them all is to look into the mirror and face the realization that you may be the person that is overweight.

How did this happen one may say and how did I get to this point? I use to be in such good shape. Unfortunately continually sitting at a desk for a couple of years as taken its toll on your body. All though you may have once had a flat stomach, but now it has turned into the bulge that is covered by a larger shirt than usual. The demands of work and home cause most of us by the end of the day not to work out. Working out is the last thing on most of our minds.

 

Being a desk job junkie isn’t your only problem. The company's pot lucks and morning donuts seem to be the biggest problem. How can an indivual say no to free food? I know this has been personally hard for me to overcome. What is the solution well self control and discipline of course but bring healthy snacks and fruit with you to work is the first step. When you get that hungry for a morning or mid day snack you’ll have yourself a healthy alternative to the office norm. Another way is to brown bag it and bring your lunch to work. I know for a lot of us this brings back memories of schools days when we would trade what mom gave us for sweets.
