Many people don’t have time to make a cup of coffee in the morning, let alone have a healthy breakfast. We run out of the house with hopes of enough time to grab a doughnut and a cup of coffee at a local pastry joint. We think that we are living a healthy lifestyle because we are consuming breakfast. But the truth is, the foods which we consume are laden with calories and sugar. After eating a doughnut, we may feel full and energized, but that energy will only last an hour or two. This is definitely not a healthy way of living. We need to consume a breakfast that is energizing and rich in valuable nutrients in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. So what are some of the food choices that we have? One of the fastest and easiest options is cereal. The grocery stores currently have numerous cereals that are rich in vitamins, fiber and whole grains. All of these attributes are extremely healthy for our body and they provide us with long lasting energy, without the sugary crash! However, if you are not that fond of cereal, oatmeal is yet another filling and healthy breakfast alternative. Oatmeal is very healthy for your heart and it will keep you full for many hours. And if you want something smooth and sweet for breakfast, try a smoothie. Buy some of your favorite fresh fruit and vegetables and create a quick morning smoothie. Since fruit and vegetables are loaded with beneficial fiber, the smoothie will keep you energized and will keep your stomach full for hours upon hours. And if all else fails, make yourself a quick sandwich. Use egg whites, whole grain bread, bagel or muffin, and a slice of cheese or a piece of smoked salmon. So as you can see, there are numerous healthy breakfast alternatives available today; all you have to do is be willing to try them. |
