The popular saying, "You've come a long way baby" certainly applies to Aloe Vera.  From the use of the gel from the Aloe Vera leaf in ancient times to new and exciting products arriving on the market daily.

Ancient Egyptians, known for their beautiful women (Cleopatra for example) used Aloe Vera gel in their daily beauty regimen.  In the early 1900's families were still using the gel of the Aloe Vera plant.  However, the uses had expanded to healing a burn from a wood stove, soothing a sun burn and healing scraps from a fall.  They continued to use Aloe Vera for their skin as it proved to soften, soothe and give a younger healthier look.

Today there's not a department, drug or grocery store in which you won't find numerous Aloe Vera products.  Walk down the aisles and notice the items for the skin, they are in the lotions, gels, creams, shampoo, and conditioner isles.  You'll find many in the cosmetic isles - from cleansers to make-up to anti-aging products.  They even have the softest gloves and socks to wear at night - while sleeping, the aloe vera in them soothes and smoothes the skin.  Try the baby items next, powders, wipes, que tips.  What about the kitchen, bathroom and laundry.  So many in dish detergent, cleaning products, even gloves to wear while cleaning.  Laundry detergent, softeners, bath lotions, the list goes on and on.  Let us not forget our pets.  Shampoos, conditioners, skin lotions, etc. all specifically made for animals.

Health and nutrition - another whole area of use for Aloe Vera products.  There are healthy drinks and juices.  You will find  capsules for internal cleansing of the digestive system, constipation and aiding in weight loss, smoothing of the skin, luster and body for the hair.  There have been medical reports that aloe vera has been helpful in reducing the pain, itching, swelling and scaring of skin diseases in both humans and animals.

The wonderful results from the use of the aloe vera products we have mentioned and so many others are a tribute to the research, trials and creativity of dedicated people who have taken advantage of every possible useful product which they have produced from the gel of the ancient Aloe Vera plant.

Aloe Vera certainly has come a long way.
