You keep telling yourself that you want to get fit but you can't seem to get started. My first advice is to just do it. Something is better than nothing. You have heard it before but walking is a good way to become more fit. You don't need to over do it. Try just fifteen minutes a day. In today's fast paced world it may seem that you don't have the time however there are more than enough opportunities in your day to exercise for fifteen minutes. Work in a high rise? Walk the stairs. Work in a mall? Walk through the mall. Work near a park? Bring walking shoes and get some fresh air. You get the idea. Walking and low level forms of exercise burn body fat. The body burns fat to compensate for the extra energy you are expending from the exercise. Should you exercise more vigorously with hard exercise your body will switch to getting energy from your blood sugar because it needs a quick fix. The whole point is any exercise benefits you. You don’t' have to be jogging at breakneck speed to benefit. Another suggestion is to really understand what you are eating. Most people truly don't understand what they eat. Monitoring food nutritional intake is easier than you think. Food diet is a balance. You don't want to eat more calories than you expend. It is that simple. On top of that it would benefit you to watch the type of carbohydrates that you consume. Carbohydrates are found in foods like potatoes, pasta, bread, rice cereals, etc. By eating foods low on the Glycemic Index your body has a better chance to burn off the calories. Foods low on the Glycemic Index convert to energy into your blood more slowly. The principal is that your body has an easier time burning off small amounts of sugar at a time than large amounts. For example your body cannot burn 1,000 calories all at once. It will use what it needs and then stores the rest in body fat. |
